What is the difference between CBAP and CCBA certification?
CBAP (Certified Business Analysis Professional) requires 7,500 hours of BA experience and targets senior practitioners; CCBA (Certification of Capability in Business Analysis) requires 3,750 hours and targets BAs with 2-3 years of experience.
Full Answer
Both certifications are issued by IIBA and test the same BABOK Guide body of knowledge, but they are aimed at different experience levels. CBAP requires a minimum of 7,500 hours of business analysis work experience within the last 10 years and is positioned as a senior-level credential.
CCBA requires 3,750 hours within the last 7 years and is designed as a stepping stone for BAs who are past entry level but not yet senior — many practitioners earn CCBA first and progress to CBAP as their experience hours accumulate.
